The WABEMA Page |
The Worked All Britain Expedition and Mobile Award (WABEMA) is presented free of charge by the Worked All Britain (WAB) group in recognition of the effort and time spent by mobile stations activating WAB Areas. There are different classes of the award for activating differing numbers of Areas.
When I go mobile, I like to stop in each area if possible, and log all the contacts (I know the license doesn't require this for /M operation, but I'm like that!). I am always wondering when I stop, whether there might be a nice layby or car park just around the next corner, instead of being precariously (but safely) positioned on the road side. Wouldn't it be useful if someone who has activated the area before could tell you of their favourite spot to save you all the wondering? That's what I thought, so I've decided to make a start with my favourites.
Each WAB Area with known information is listed by its Area and County/Unitary Authority, along with details of which Rateable District the Area is in (if wholly so), and details about the area - mainly about the major roads that pass through (where there are any!). If you are planning a mobile run, why not check if there is any information available to save you some time when you get there.
If you have any details you would like to add to the database to help other mobile stations, please drop me an e-mail here and I'll add it to the file.
